How Long Does Makeup Last

Is it time to clean out your makeup bag?

Did you know that regularly replacing your makeup is just as important as investing in quality products? Using expired makeup can cause skin irritation, breakouts, and even infections. Don’t compromise your beauty routine by using old and ineffective products that can harm your skin. How Long Does Makeup Last? Keep reading to find out!

Are any of these items in your makeup bag? It might be time to replace them…Below are some general rules of thumb when it comes to replacing your makeup.

  • Mascara-Mascara should be replaced every 3 months.
  • Eyeliner-Eyeliner might also need to be replaced every 3 months. Pencil formulas can last longer (1-2 years, especially if you are sharpening them).
  • Lipstick-Most lipsticks need to be replaced after 1 year.
  • Liquid and Cream Products-These products last 6 to 12 months.
  • Primers and Foundations-These products can last up to two years if stored properly.
  • Powder products-We’re talking blush, eyeshadows, powder foundations, etc. These products can also last around two years.
  • Nail Polish-Nail polish can last two years.

How can I tell if I should replace my makeup?

Besides the guidelines above, you may want to consider throwing it out if you have had it for more than two years (no matter the product). If something smells funny or the texture is weird, then it is time to toss it. If the product has direct contact with the skin, then it will need to be replaced more often. If the product is changing color or develops any sort of film, it is probably time to replace it.

Of course, if you use any products while sick, you might want to consider replacing them so you don’t get sick again. Eye products shouldn’t be used if you have Pink Eye for example and if they are then you should replace them.

Cleaning your brushes and makeup application tools can also help to reduce the spread of bacteria.

Mission Statement: As an Avon Independent Sales Representative, my purpose is to inspire others to embrace their best selves. I am dedicated to serving customers by helping them discover products that enhance their beauty, both inside and out. A little more about me:

I’m a Richmond, Virginia native with a deep passion for early childhood education. Armed with a Masters in Teaching for Early and Elementary Education, I’ve been a dedicated full-time educator since 2013.

My journey with Avon began in August 2011, initially as a means to support myself through college. Stepping into the world of direct sales was a leap into the unknown, but with encouragement from my mother, who had been an Avon Representative herself, I embraced the opportunity. My decision to join Avon was solidified after a meeting with my upline sales leader, and since then, I’ve been an enthusiastic advocate for the brand.

Over the years, Avon has transformed from a source of income to a genuine passion. I find immense joy in sharing Avon’s products and mission with those around me. In 2013, my interest in expanding my online Avon business led me to delve into blogging and cultivate a growing Social Media presence. Witnessing the love and support for Avon from people worldwide has been truly inspiring. While our reach in serving customers is limited to the United States, the global community on Social Media and the web has allowed me to connect with followers from around the world who share in the love for Avon.
